Man killed in police car crash

GATINEAU, QUE. - Quebec police have released the name of the Ottawa man killed in a head-on collision with a Gatineau police car early Friday morning. Kenneth Peter Robertson, 31, died in the crash.

Police said Robertson was apparently on his way home from work at time of the accident. Two Gatineau police officers, aged 22 and 23, were in hospital with fractures as a result of the collision.

They were responding to a call at the time of the Saint Louis street collision.

The Quebec Provincial Police were called in to investigate the accident. It is standard procedure for the provincial force to investigate when another force in the province is involved in an incident where someone is killed or injured.

On Friday afternoon the force said it was still trying to determine the cause of the accident.
