Sounds like Google is going to start cracking down on third-party ads in Android notifications (yay!)

"Apps and their ads must not display advertisements through system level notifications
on the user's device, unless the notifications derive from an integral feature provided
by the installed app. (e.g., an airline app that notifies users of special deals, or a
game that notifies users of in-game promotions)."

So if your game wants to promote something within the game, via a notification, while still annoying, is fine. But no more third-party ads in notification bars or they’ll get removed from the app store.

Takes effect today, and publishers have 30 days to comply.
