Well, the crazy NaBloPoMo people have decided to issue a new challenge – posting every day in 2008. I fizzled out 28 days into November, I couldn’t post the last two days for NaBloPoMo, so there’s no chance I’ll post every stinkin’ day. Instead though, I’m going to build a list of things to accomplish, geek-wise in 2008 instead. I’d like the list to be at least 12 items to cover one major thing every month, but we’ll see.
In no particular order:
- build a full-on tutorial for my SpamAssassin trainer, including video, screen shots, and a wizard application for constructing the training script.
- (NOT LIKELY TO HAPPEN) build a new contest of some sort for Georgia Lab Rescue.
- consolidate my w98.us blog with iandouglas.com and build up my iandouglas.com site a lot more.
- build a genealogy site at thedouglasclan.com where various people with a Douglas surname can register and build a gigantic family tree.
- convert some of my existing software into actual ‘web services’ and learn WSDL, SOAP, etc
- get a full-time job with a company instead of running my own, which will involve relocating and closing down pretty much all of my on-the-side freelance work.
- write an application for my Samsung BlackJack 2 running Windows Mobile 6 Standard, probably on the .NET stack.
- write an application for my FIC Neo1973 smartphone running OpenMoko, using GTK.
- get a public Subversion repository running at iandouglas.com for my open source software projects, or fully embrace services like freshmeat.net and sourceforge.net to handle that sort of thing for me, I haven’t decided.
- help extend the SilverStripe CMS that I’m using here at iandouglas.com.
- learn enough about Python and/or Ruby to write a web service of some sort from scratch at iandouglas.com.
- find a new layout for this site, looks kinda bad right now.
- write a cross-platform app of some sort in WxWidgets
